Pamela wanted to surprise her husband with a special, once-in-a-lifetime jewel. There was just one hitch: He has never once worn jewellery! Not usually big on adornments, John doesn’t even sport a watch. One piece of jewellery that’s always piqued his interest, however, is the bolo tie.

Widely associated with the American Southwest, the bolo tie is thought to have originated in Arizona sometime in the 1940s. Traditionally a simple neckpiece consisting of a cord secured with a flat, ornamental clasp, the bolo tie in Pamela’s mind’s eye was a high-end jewel that John could wear out to the theatre and dinner. So, we took the fundamental elements of the bolo tie and created something classy and timeless. By incorporating 18ct white gold, 0.32ct of brilliant-cut white diamonds, 0.78ct of deep blue sapphires and high quality woven leather, we placed a luxurious spin on a tradition once associated with dusty landscapes and bareback horse-riding.

Best of all was the knock-on effect. A few months later, John came to us and told us that, for the first time ever, he felt seen. Someone who had never before been celebrated for his appearance, he suddenly found compliments coming his way. Thanks to this bolo tie, he's discovered a new love for being admired.
